Training and qualifications
Samir qualified in Sudan in 1981 as a dental surgeon. They went on to gain a master's degree in oral surgery from the University of Bristol, and a fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. They have also qualified with the Society for Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD), carrying out a refresher course in 2017.

Samir is a dentist and oral surgeon, with over 30 years' experience of working in general dentistry and hospital settings. They are a member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons and the International Team for Implantology, and are on the GDC specialist register for oral surgery. During this time, they worked in hospitals in Edinburgh, and later, Chelmsford, gaining a wealth of experience treating trauma cases in the maxillofacial department. Samir has carried out 1000's of complex oral surgery procedures, including surgical extractions, removal of impacted wisdom teeth, removal of cystic lesions, soft tissue removal, frenectomy, apicectomy and sinus repairs.
