Training and qualifications
After qualifying from Trinity College Dublin in 2002, Daniel spent a year as a house officer in Dublin Dental Hospital, concentrating on both restorative dentistry and oral surgery.
Following this, he worked in private practice and completed the MFDS exams before beginning a three-year programme in endodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute. He was subsequently awarded the Membership in Restorative Dentistry (MRD) - the highest formal qualification available for the endodontic mono-specialty - by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and entered onto the General Dental Council’s specialist list for endodontics.
Daniel lectures and provides hands-on courses for dentists both in the UK and internationally and has taught Endodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute for Oral Healthcare Sciences.
Treatments offered
Daniel believes that, where appropriate, a natural tooth is superior to an implant or other replacements, so long as it is part of an overall restorative lead treatment plan. To this end, he has dedicated the last five years to perfecting minimally-invasive root canal treatment and endodontic microsurgery techniques, the ultimate tooth saving procedure.
He uses state-of-the-art small-volume CBCT scans, microscopes, the latest control memory files and tricalcium silicate cements.
Daniel has treated thousands of anxious patients with great kindness and sensitivity over the years, developing a virtually pain-free approach. He believes the process of root canal treatment can be completed efficiently without compromise, and has fine tuned the workflow and communication with his dental nurse. He fully understands the relationship between successful root canal treatment and the subsequent restoration of the tooth.
Daniel receives referrals from general dental practice and patient self-referral, in addition to referrals of particularly challenging cases from other root canal specialists.
Outside of the clinic, Daniel enjoys skiing, playing golf, football and squash, and spending time with his young family.

Endodontics at Bryer Wallace with Daniel Flynn
Hi, I'm Daniel Flynn and I'm the specialist endodontist here at Briyer Wallace dental Practice.
The speciality of endodontics is the speciality that wants to save your natural tooth.
In general, it's better to keep your tooth rather than to have alternatives, so our specialty is involved in assessing your particular case and seeing if that is a good match for the services that we can provide.
Instead of just taking X-rays, we also have 3D scans.
It helps us to make an accurate diagnosis.
So before we instigate any treatment, we have a very clear picture of exactly what the diagnosis is.
It also helps us during treatment.
So rather than drilling into a tooth and trying to find the number of canals before we start any treatment at all, we know exactly how many nerve canals are in the tooth where they're situated.
And this is really important because this can help us to much more minimal access into your tooth.
Every single part of the work that we do is done under high magnification and highlight.
This makes it a lot more enjoyable as a clinician to do, but also for you as a patient, it allows us to work to the highest degree of accuracy.
So when I was doing my postgraduate training, treatments would last three to four hours, whereas now most of the treatments can be completed in under an hour.
So I feel very fortunate to work here in Bryer Wallace Dental Practice.
We work with a lot of other specialists in periodontics and oral surgery, in orthodontics and restorative dentistry, and that allows us to have a collaborative and holistic approach in the way that we treat patients.
So we want to treat patients as if they're one of our own families.
So it's really nice to get best specialists opinions on a case before we formulate a complete treatment plan.
We see a lot of patients who come who are very, very, very nervous, so it's really important for us that we're able to put people at ease.
We specialise in doing this treatment all the time, so the most important thing for us as a clinician is to make sure that you have a comfortable experience during the entire root canal treatment.
Meet Daniel Flynn, specialist endodontist at Bryer Wallace
At Bryer Wallace, we’re committed to bringing together the latest in dentistry technology with the dedication and expertise of our specialist clinicians.
Daniel Flynn is our specialist endodontist (root canal), who qualified as a dentist from Trinity College Dublin in 2002 before going on to be inspired by contemporary technology and microscopic dentistry, and training in his chosen specialism at Eastman Dental Hospital.
Today, Daniel works exclusively as a specialist endodontist at Bryer Wallace, where he is involved in saving our patients’ natural teeth with an array of groundbreaking technologies.
“Nowadays, there are many treatment options available to patients when it comes to restoring their smiles. However, endodontics is a speciality that wants to save the natural tooth.
Indeed, endodontists want to try and retain your natural teeth, as long as they are healthy and there’s enough structure and bone around the tooth to hold it in position.”
As with all other areas of dentistry, there have been huge advances in the field of endodontics in recent years. At Bryer Wallace, we’ve worked hard to implement the latest technology for our patients, delivering treatments which reflect the cutting edge of contemporary dentistry. As Daniel Flynn explains:
“Today, instead of just taking X-rays, we use 3D scans to help obtain a highly accurate diagnosis. The 3D scanners allow us to have a very clear idea of what the diagnosis is before any treatment begins; we can see exactly how many nerve canals are inside the tooth, rather than having to drill into the tooth as was the case in the past. This has made a huge difference, as this technology allows us to know how much of the natural tooth structure is present.
We also have a microscope which is now used for all treatments. At our practice, every single aspect of the work is completed under high light and high magnification, allowing for the highest level of accuracy and results.
We also work with new biocompatible sealers, which increase efficiency by creating an optimal sealant in the tooth.
Endodontic microsurgery, too, has improved treatment for patients who have experienced failed root canal procedures in the past. This technology allows us to access the required area through the top of the tooth - through the gum - rather than accessing the root canal in the conventional manner. The result is that success rates increase to over 90%, and it greatly reduces the need for invasive surgery.”
These advances in technology have also resulted in greater patient satisfaction, not just in the quality of results but in the way the treatments are undertaken in-practice.
“In previous years, lots of patients would be anxious regarding how long root canal treatment would take. Nowadays, the technology available to us along with heat-treated titanium instruments allow treatments to be completed in a much more efficient timeframe.
For example, when I was undertaking my postgraduate training, most treatments would last three to four hours. Now, it’s typical for them to be completed within one hour. Patients are often very happy to hear this!”
At Bryer Wallace Belgravia, we believe in taking a collaborative and holistic approach to all treatments, allowing specialists to work side by side in order to provide exceptional care for your oral health. As Daniel Flynn puts it:
“We want to treat our patients as if they’re members of our own family. That’s why we get specialist opinions on a case before we formulate a complete treatment plan”.
