Jelena graduated from the dental school of the University of Belgrade in 2000. Soon after completing her vocational training, she was awarded a scholarship to join a dental school in Geneva, to undertake teaching and research. She then completed a PhD at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2006, where she later worked as a clinical lecturer and supervised students working within clinic and research facilities.

Passionate about teaching, Jelena has also achieved a postgraduate certificate in learning and teaching.

Speaking about her role, Jelena said, “My priorities are to make sure that my patients fully understand the treatment as well as feeling comfortable and at ease as much as possible. I believe that once someone understands why certain treatment needs to be done, they are better placed to choose the right treatment for them and are more able to deal with relatively longer sessions compared to the usual dental visits for simple fillings. My passion is teaching, and research and I try to bring this knowledge and experience to my everyday practice. Also, when necessary I apply some calming and reassuring techniques used in paediatric dentistry to help anxious patients relax and make their time with us less worrying and more tranquil.’’

Dr Sabina Hameed is highly experienced in all aspects of oral surgery and surgical dentistry.

Dr Hameed qualified as a dentist from Guy’s Hospital in London in 2000. Since then, she has acquired an extensive body of knowledge and clinical experience in all aspects of dentistry.

Her oral surgery experience includes working as a senior house officer in several hospitals in London, working as a specialty doctor in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Royal Berkshire and West Berkshire Hospital Trusts, as well as an oral surgeon in a major London hospital NHS Trust. In 2008, she completed a one-year OMFS fellowship at the world-renowned University of California, Los Angeles, training in advanced oral surgery and implants.

Dr Hameed is also a specialist periodontist, having completed her three-year specialist training and master’s program in Advanced Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at the University of Southern California. She completed this in 2017, becoming the only periodontist in the UK to have qualified from the University of Southern California.

Dr Hameed is very passionate about her work and imparts this enthusiasm to her patients and colleagues. She has a keen interest in teaching and education, having previously taught at King's College London and has been an examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons of England for nine years.

Originally from Bulgaria, Stefanka Kamcheva - known as Steff - moved to the UK in 2009. After qualifying as a dental nurse in 2013, she embarked on a five-year adventure before joining us at Bupa Dental Care Winchester in 2020.

Originally from Bulgaria, Stefanka Kamcheva - known as Steff - moved to the UK in 2009. After qualifying as a dental nurse in 2013, she embarked on a five-year adventure before joining us at Bupa Dental Care Winchester in 2020.

Steff now leads the team of nurses at the practice, working closely with our implant specialist Ed. Steff enjoys both the managing and clinical aspects of her role, with a special interest in restorative dentistry and oral surgery. She completed a course in dental implant nursing in September 2023, furthering her skills and capabilities at the practice.
