Originally from Cowbridge, Andrew graduated with a BSc in Biomedical Science in Cardiff in 2006. He then continued his studies at the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry in Plymouth, graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2012. After qualifying as a dentist, Andrew undertook a postgraduate course in Primary Dental Care with the University of Kent. Since his studies, he has worked as a dentist in Kent and as a locum dentist in practices across South Wales.

She spent a year working at the University Dental Hospital of Wales where she gained experience in restorative dentistry and oral surgery. Najiyah enjoys all aspects of dentistry and aims to deliver quality treatment in a gentle and friendly manner. She has previously volunteered with dental charities in Vietnam and Jordan to provide dental aid.

Stacey studied at Cardiff University, qualifying as a dental hygienist in 2002 before joining us here in Penarth in 2009.

She helps to prevent those tooth and gum problems which then need a dentist’s intervention. She can also help to brighten your smile by removing stains and carrying out teeth whitening treatments.

After moving from Plymouth to Wales, Becca joined us here in Penarth in 2008 and then qualified as a dental nurse in 2010. She was promoted to lead dental nurse in 2017.

Becca has also qualified as a dental implant nurse and she's the infection control lead for our practice. She's taken courses in suture removal, fluoride varnish, CPR and first aid. She supports our team of dentists and hygienists with oral health promotion for patients.

Nicola registered as a dental nurse in 2008 and qualified in 2009. She first joined our practice in 2010 before working with Community Dental Services for 18 months and returning to us in 2013. Two years later, Nicola joined Bupa Dental Care Pentwyn as practice manager and completed Bupa Dental Care’s Practice Manager Academy in 2016. She later became a dual-site manager and returned to manage our Penarth practice in 2019.

No, orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common. We can talk through your options with you.

We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.

Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.

Fillings repair small holes in your tooth enamel. If they aren’t filled, the decay will deepen. You’ll start to feel pain, and you could end up needing root canal treatment, which is much more significant and costs more. So although you might not feel pain right now, it’s best to repair these holes as soon as possible.
