Shiphay Dental and Torbay Implant Centre Our team

Eric has a strong interest in endodontics and holds an MSc in the field. He is one of very few dentists in the area to have a dental microscope and receives referrals from all over Torbay for root canal and re-root treatments. He also offers whitening and cosmetic dental treatments.

James has been a member of the Shiphay Dental team since 2022. Originally from Lancaster, he qualified from Manchester University in 2003 and spent the early part of his career in some of the city’s most challenging districts, even undertaking some forensic dental work for Greater Manchester Police.

Rana joined our practice in 2021 and has a passion for minimally invasive dentistry, including teeth straightening, whitening and composite bonding. Rana aims to create a positive experience for all patients with a kind and empathetic approach to dental care.

Aarohan Singh is our in-house oral surgeon, performing surgical procedures including placing dental implants, bone augmentation and surgical extractions. Aarohan is offers dental sedation.

Rachel qualified as a dental hygienist from the University of Manchester in 1992. She focuses on motivating and educating her patients to improve their oral health, improving their toothbrushing technique and provides advice on oral health products.

Sue qualified as a dental hygienist from Birmingham University in 1979 and has been a familiar face to most of our patients for 30 years. Sue has previously provided hygiene services in hospitals and in the Women’s Royal Naval Service.

Emma qualified as a dental nurse in 2001 and joined the practice in 2008. She has completed a postgraduate qualification in Implant Nursing so she can assist with implant placements.

Gemma qualified as a dental nurse in 2005 and joined the practice in November 2016. Gemma has completed a postgraduate qualification in Radiography so that she can assist our dentists with taking X-rays for patients.

Georgina Hutchins, known to her patients as Georgie. Georgie has gained her qualification in implant dental nursing and is currently working towards gaining her postgraduate qualification in oral health education.

Jo qualified as a dental nurse in 1987 and joined the practice in 1994. She has a wealth of experience as a dental nurse but particularly enjoys working on implant cases. She is also trained to assist with dental sedation.

Kristina is a dental nurse at our practice. Her caring nature and knowledge of dentistry makes her a great asset to our team.

Matilda Webb joined us in July 2022 and has since gained her dental nurse qualification. Matilda is a valuable addition to our nursing and reception team and is currently working towards gaining her postgraduate qualification in radiography.

Anna Parnell qualified as a dental nurse in 2003 and holds a postgraduate qualification in oral health education. Anna runs oral health clinics, as she is able to give advice and tips on how to improve or maintain patients’ oral health.

Carolyn joined the team in October 2017. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in a patient environment having been a receptionist at a large opticians for over 10 years prior to joining us.

Louise is our lead receptionist and offers our patients a familiar face, having been at the practice since 2008. She has a wealth of knowledge within the dental industry having qualified as a dental nurse in 1981.

Pat worked at our practice many years ago as the practice manager, so she brings great dental and practice knowledge in her role as receptionist.

Portia works on our reception and has years of experience working with the public. You may also see Portia in scrubs, as she works within our decontamination room, processing instruments ready for the surgeries.

Before becoming our practice manager, Victoria was a dental nurse. Her clinical knowledge is valuable to her role and helps her handle patient enquiries. Victoria also runs our oral health education clinic, giving free dental help and advice to patients.
