Shiphay Dental and Torbay Implant Centre Our team

Eric has a strong interest in endodontics and holds an MSc in the field. He is one of very few dentists in the area to have a dental microscope and receives referrals from all over Torbay for root canal .

James has been a member of the Shiphay Dental team since 2022. Originally from Lancaster, he qualified from Manchester University in 2003.

Rana joined our practice in 2021 and has a passion for minimally invasive dentistry, including teeth straightening, whitening and composite bonding.

Aarohan Singh is our in-house oral surgeon, performing surgical procedures including placing dental implants, bone augmentation and surgical extractions. Aarohan offers dental sedation.

Rachel qualified as a dental hygienist from the University of Manchester in 1992. She focuses on motivating and educating her patients to improve their oral health.

Sue qualified as a dental hygienist from Birmingham University in 1979 and has been a familiar face to most of our patients for 30 years.

Emma qualified as a dental nurse in 2001 and joined the practice in 2008. She has completed a postgraduate qualification in Implant Nursing so she can assist with implant placements.

Gemma qualified as a dental nurse in 2005 and joined the practice in November 2016. She has completed a postgraduate qualification in Radiography so that she can assist our dentists with taking X-rays for patients.

Jo qualified as a dental nurse in 1987 and joined the practice in 1994. She has a wealth of experience as a dental nurse but particularly enjoys working on implant cases. She is also trained to assist with dental sedation.

Matilda joined us in July 2022 and has since gained her dental nurse qualification. She is a valuable addition to our nursing and reception team and is currently working towards gaining her postgraduate qualification in radiography.

Anna Parnell qualified as a dental nurse in 2003 and holds a postgraduate qualification in oral health education.

Claudia qualified in 2024 and is studying towards her post-graduate qualification in sedation so she can work with our surgeon and our more nervous patients.

Carolyn joined the team in October 2017. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in a patient environment having been a receptionist at a large opticians for over 10 years prior to joining us.

Portia works within our decontamination room, doing the most important job, which is processing instruments ready for our clinicians and nurses to use in surgery.

Before becoming our practice manager, Victoria was a dental nurse. Her clinical knowledge is valuable to her role and helps her handle patient enquiries. She also runs our oral health education clinic, giving free dental help and advice to patients.
