A warm welcome to our practice from our practice manager Michelle and the team in Bishop Auckland.
Our dental practice in Bishop Auckland was originally established in 1955 as an NHS dental practice. Conveniently situated in a Victorian terraced house on the main high street, it’s been a popular choice for patients ever since.
Today, Bupa Dental Care Bishop Auckland is a modern practice, offering a wide range of NHS and private dentistry treatments including general dentistry and cosmetic treatments. We also have emergency appointments available.
We are wheelchair and pushchair-friendly with ground floor access and surgeries available on request.
The practice team is highly motivated and experienced, and some of the team members have over 30 years’ experience. Many of our patients have been coming to the practice for years and are on first name terms with the staff.

Our practice is easily accessible by public transport. We’re on a bus route which services the local area, with a bus stop directly outside the practice. The train station – with train lines from Darlington, Newton Aycliffe, Heighington and Shildon – is only a short walk away from the practice.
If you’re coming by car, we have roadside parking within the residential surrounding area, and our entrance has a ramp for easy access for wheelchair users.

No, orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common. We can talk through your options with you.
We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.
Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.
Fillings repair small holes in your tooth enamel. If they aren’t filled, the decay will deepen. You’ll start to feel pain, and you could end up needing root canal treatment, which is much more significant and costs more. So although you might not feel pain right now, it’s best to repair these holes as soon as possible.
