Karun is an experienced clinician who specialises in periodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics and restorative dentistry.

Karun graduated from Manipal Academy, India, with distinction. He then worked in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, US. After returning to the UK, he completed his MSc in Prosthetic Dentistry from the Eastman Dental Institute. He completed his higher specialist training in Restorative Dentistry from Birmingham Dental Hospital, where he now works as a consultant.

Karun has a keen interest in periodontology and mucogingival surgical procedures, including dental implants. He has written extensively in national and international journals, and refereed papers in Dental Update and British Dental Journal. He regularly teaches undergraduates and postgraduates on national and international courses.

He was the past chairperson of Specialist Registrar Society in restorative dentistry, where he organised national conferences and study days. He’s currently chairperson of the Managed Clinical Network for restorative dentistry in the West Midlands.

Suganthy graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1993. He spent the early part of his career in North America, before moving back to England 15 years ago. He has a keen interest in aesthetic dentistry and restorative implants. Always eager to expand on his skills and experience, he recently completed a one-year restorative programme and plans to do more in the future.

She served in the RAF for seven years, first at RAF Cranwell before moving to other stations throughout the UK. She qualified as a dental nurse during this time, before qualifying as a dental hygienist in 1995.

After completing her time in the RAF, Karen moved into general dental practice in Plymouth, where she developed the skills required to treat a variety of periodontal issues. She joined the practice in 2019.

No, orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common. We can talk through your options with you.

We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.

Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.

Fillings repair small holes in your tooth enamel. If they aren’t filled, the decay will deepen. You’ll start to feel pain, and you could end up needing root canal treatment, which is much more significant and costs more. So although you might not feel pain right now, it’s best to repair these holes as soon as possible.
