If you have missing teeth, loose teeth, or ill fitting dentures, then dental implants could be the perfect solution.
Dental implants are a strong, reliable and long-lasting tooth-loss solution, which can last as long as your natural teeth, with effective care. Tailored to your smile, each dental implant is carefully created bespoke to each patient.
What are the advantages of dental implants from Dental Excellence Harewood?
Function: Helping improve your tooth function, dental implants provide you more freedom to enjoy foods that may have previously caused problems
Appearance: Our custom-made approach helps achieve a more natural implant appearance, matching your existing smile
Security: An implant replaces your tooth s root, creating a secure base
Preservation: This root replacement helps preserve your jawbone, which may otherwise begin to shrink, causing changes in your facial structure
Strength: The implant root is made from titanium, providing strength and stability
What is the dental implant process?
You will see an experienced dentist for your consultation, who may undertake X-rays or scans, to assess your suitability.
Your dentist will discuss your individual treatment plan, and you will be provided with a quote for your treatment.
The dental implant procedure is often performed under local anaesthetic and usually involves two separate procedures

Dental implants at Dental Excellence Harewood with Gabriel Simon
I'm Gabriel, I'm one of the implant dentists at Dental Excellence Harwood.
For dental implants we have quite a wide range of different procedures, so they'll go from delay, immediate procedures, bridges, implant supported dentures.
That's why it's always important that we have a chance to see our patients so we can then go from assessment planning and do a tailored treatment plan based on their needs.
So tooth in a day is what we call usually an immediate implant treatment.
Let's say unfortunately a tooth is broken, it's damaged, it needs removal.
Then on the same day we do our assessment, our planning, if the case is suitable, the patient is happy with this.
We plan removal of this tooth.
An implant, which is what replaces the missing root of the tooth, is a titanium post.
So we'll place that in position and we can then load with a temporary crown on top of this.
It's really good because if we cannot put a temporary crown on an implant when replacing this on the same day, it means a person will leave with a gap or with a temporary denture or with a temporary bridge.
And suddenly having a fixed temporary implant crown is a better solution.
Patients prefer that.
And on top of that, there are some other benefits.
Because if I can replace your tooth on the same day, your gum architecture, I have a better chance of trying to maintain that as similar as it is at that point.
If unfortunately you do lose your tooth, or if you have to remove your tooth and allow some time of healing, the first thing that will happen is that your gum tissue is going to heal a little bit flatter.
So when you finally put the implant around there, the gum tissue may not be as amazing as it could have been if it was an immediate replacement.
So I try to put myself in the patient's shoes because being in this setting can be a little bit difficult for some people.
And I find that the key for this is just really communication.
If I can go through the details and explain what is happening in each stage, it gets people out of the mindset of what's going to happen next.
We also offer sedation here at Harwood.
It's really great because I work in a range of different other practices.
Not all places are prepared for this.
So we have all the facilities.
And in case a patient feels that they're not confident enough to have treatment just under local anaesthetic, then we can offer this under sedation here too.
I normally do hear when someone comes to my practice or to a surgical day, “Oh, I'm a little bit nervous.”
