A suite of implant services
Our implant dentist, Ruairi, provides a variety of dental implant services to help improve your smile and restore your confidence.
We’re a multi-disciplinary team, so we have the skills and expertise to deliver all your care at our practice- you’ll never need to be referred elsewhere for treatment.
Dental implant treatment
We offer dental implant treatments including single and multiple implants and full-arch restorations. We use established brands of implants to ensure quality and we’re experienced in both simple and complex cases.
We have a CBCT scanner on-site to check your suitability and to determine where your implants should be placed before you have treatment.
Patient-centred care
We have a dedicated treatment coordinator at the practice who is also a qualified dental nurse. She’ll be on-hand to guide you through your treatment and reassure you.
We also have dedicated hygienists who will be able to help you take care of your implants in the long-term.
If you’re nervous about visiting the dentist, we’re experienced with anxious patients and can offer dental sedation if you’re particularly nervous about visiting us.
Implant procedure
Learn about the step-by-step treatment process for having dental implants, from your initial consultation right through to aftercare.
First, you’ll have a free* phone consultation with one of our dedicated treatment coordinators. We’ll talk you through your options, give you an indication of price and can book you in for an initial assessment with your implant dentist if you choose to go ahead.
Clinical assessment
Next, you’ll have a clinical assessment to make sure you’re eligible for treatment. Your dentist will take X-rays and decide exactly where your implants need to be placed. They’ll also talk you through the cost of treatment and let you know if you need a supporting treatment, such as a bone graft.
Placing your implants
This is where your dental implants are fixed into your jawbone. It’s a surgical procedure normally performed under local anaesthetic, so it’s relatively pain-free. If you feel nervous, your dentist may be able to offer sedation to put you at ease. Your bone and gums will need time to heal before attaching your replacement teeth, so we’ll fit you with some temporary teeth until you’re ready.
Fitting your replacement teeth
It’s normal to wait four to eight months for the implant to fully integrate with your jawbone, before your permanent, replacement teeth are fitted. They will be custom-made to fit the size, shape and colour of your existing teeth.
Aftercare
Keeping your implants clean and healthy is no more difficult than it is with your natural teeth. But if you find any areas tricky to reach, or if you come across any problems, we’re here to help. We’ll provide you with all the aftercare advice you need to have a successful implant.
No, orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common. We can talk through your options with you.
We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.
Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.
Fillings repair small holes in your tooth enamel. If they aren’t filled, the decay will deepen. You’ll start to feel pain, and you could end up needing root canal treatment, which is much more significant and costs more. So although you might not feel pain right now, it’s best to repair these holes as soon as possible.
