On graduating from the School of Dental Sciences at Newcastle University in 2010, Iain achieved merits in both Clinical Dentistry and Academic Dentistry.

He currently divides his time between restorative and cosmetic dentistry, and enjoys the challenge of more complex cases.

Iain has a postgraduate certificate in endodontics. He has lectured to groups of dentists on short-term orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry.

Before joining us here in Morpeth, Matthew worked as senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Newcastle Dental Hospital and as a senior dental officer within County Durham & Darlington Community Specialist Dental Service.

In 2003, he obtained his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Matthew completed the prestigious 'One to One’ extended dental implant course at the School of Clinical Dentistry, part of the University of Sheffield, in 2010. This enables him to surgically place dental implants and to restore them.

Paula graduated in 1990 with the National Certificate for Dental Surgery Assistants. In 1993, she completed her Certificate in Oral Health Education and in 1997, completed her Further Adult Education Teaching Certificate.

To develop her career, she worked in the sedation department at Newcastle Dental Hospital, achieving her Certificate in Conscious Sedation.

She went on to own her own business where she taught the diploma in dental nursing. She was a dental nursing tutor for 16 years.

Paula has an interest in health & safety and compliance, and completed her NEBOSH certification (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) in 2017.

No, orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common. We can talk through your options with you.

We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.

Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.

Fillings repair small holes in your tooth enamel. If they aren’t filled, the decay will deepen. You’ll start to feel pain, and you could end up needing root canal treatment, which is much more significant and costs more. So although you might not feel pain right now, it’s best to repair these holes as soon as possible.
