A warm welcome to Ballymena Specialist Dental Clinic
At Ballymena Specialist Dental Clinic, we offer a range of NHS and private dental treatments and services on a referral basis, including oral surgery, dental implants and dental sedation.
We accept self-referrals for dental implant treatment, which means you don’t need to be referred to us by another dentist for implants. We also offer direct access hygiene appointments.
About Ballymena Specialist Dental Clinic
The majority of our patients are referred to us by other dentists and we currently have over 300 dentists who refer to us across County Antrim, the rest of Northern Ireland and even Eire. So you can rest assured your patients are in safe hands.
We’re the sister clinic of Fortwilliam Specialist Dental Clinic in Belfast. They offer similar services to us, although we have our own dentists and specialists at the practice who are experienced in oral surgery and periodontics.
We’re also proud finalists of the Irish Dentistry Awards 2020, where we were shortlisted for ’Best Referral Practice’, ‘Best Treatment of Nervous Patients’ and ‘Best Team’.
Our dental referral services
We offer a range of treatments and services for referred patients, including oral surgery, dental implants, root canal treatment, gum treatment and dentures.
Our practice has two fully equipped surgeries, as well as a dedicated imaging suite, which includes a CBCT scanner and intraoral scanning. We can also take panoral radiographs.

We understand that referring a patient to another dentist is a big decision. That’s why we only offer treatment options relevant to your referral request.
What’s more, our referral process is simple and straightforward. We’ll keep you informed at all times, from the moment your patient enters our practice, right through to when we return them to your care. We’ll also promptly send you all the necessary paperwork.
Dental implants in Ballymena
We’ve been providing dental implants as a solution for replacing missing teeth for 20 years. As well as treating patients from the local area, people have travelled from Eire and wider parts of Northern Ireland to restore their smile at our clinic.
We accept self-referrals for dental implant treatment, so if it’s something you think you might benefit from, please do get in touch. We can arrange an initial consultation to assess your case, explain how implants are fitted and recommend a bespoke treatment plan.
Sedation available for nervous patients
If you’re nervous about dental treatment, our qualified nurses can provide intravenous and oral sedation to make your experience more comfortable. We also have dedicated recovery rooms where you can relax following your treatment, while you wait for the effects to wear off. If you’re particularly nervous about visiting us, please get in touch. We’ll be more than happy to talk you through your options.
How to find Ballymena Specialist Dental Clinic
Our practice is in a quaint grey stone Victorian building with a gabled roof. We’re on the corner of George Street, clearly visible from the mini roundabout outside the Adair Arms Hotel. Ballymena Train Station is an eight-minute walk away and we’re a one-minute walk away from a bus stop that leads to all main routes.
If you’re driving to us, there’s free on-street parking outside the practice and further down George Street. We’re also wheelchair friendly.

Patient feedback
Whitening can be an important part of a smile makeover. We always check the suitability of your teeth, as it may not be recommended for some patients with high sensitivity. It’s important to know that we may not be able to treat all of your teeth: whitening can’t alter the colour of fillings, crowns, veneers, for example. Your dentist can explain and suggest any options open to you.
We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.
Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.
