A warm welcome from our practice manager, Jenna Lindsay

Fortwilliam Specialist Dental Clinic is a specialist oral surgery practice based on Antrim Road in Belfast. The majority of our patients are referred to us by other dentists, but we also accept self-referrals for dental implant treatment, which means you can inquire with us directly to book a consultation.

We’re proud that we were finalists in three categories at the Irish Dentistry Awards in 2019, including ‘Best Referral Practice’, ‘Best Team’ and ‘Best Treatment of Nervous Patients’. So whether you’re referred to us, or self-referred, you can rest assured your smile is in safe hands.

Our dentist referral services

Our practice offers complex oral surgery treatments on a referral-only basis, for both private and NHS patients. Our team boasts five registered specialists in oral surgery who are highly qualified and experienced.

We handle the placement and restoration of implants, complex surgical tooth extractions, prosthodontics and a wide range of other advanced treatments, particularly for complex cases. Our sister-clinic in Ballymena offers similar services.

We’re also part of the HSCB NHS oral surgery pilot initiative and we have a teaching clinic with lecture room facilities for Queen’s University students.

We have an easy process for other dentists to refer to us. If you’re interested in referring a patient, please get in touch. We’ll be more than happy to explain anything to you.

Dental implants in Belfast

We’ve been fitting dental implants at our practice for over 20 years. Implants are a long-term, fixed solution to help you restore your missing or failing teeth. If you’re interested in having an implant placed, please get in touch. We accept self-referrals for implant treatment and will be happy to book you in for an initial consultation or to talk you through the process.

Services for nervous patients

We can provide oral or intravenous dental sedation for our private patients who are particularly anxious about visiting the dentist. All of our dental nurses are qualified in conscious sedation.

We like our patients to feel comfortable and at-home when they visit our practice, so we have free Wi-Fi and refreshments available while you relax in our spacious reception area.

If you’re anxious about visiting us, please get in touch. We’ll be more than happy to talk you through anything and explain your treatment options to you.

How to find Fortwilliam Specialist Dental Clinic

We’re located in a unique listed building on Antrim Road in Belfast. If you’re driving to us, there’s plenty of free parking outside the practice. We’re also a 1-minute walk from a bus stop which leads to all main city bus routes and less than a 25-minute walk from Yorkgate Train Station.

Our practice is fully-wheelchair accessible.

Implants at Fortwilliam Specialist Dental Clinic

If you have one or more missing teeth, and are looking for high quality, long-lasting and discreet treatment, our clinicians are experienced in placing dental implants. Dental implants can last as long as your natural teeth if you care for them properly. Tailored to your smile, each dental implant is carefully created bespoke to you. Get in touch with us to find out if implants are right for you.

Whitening can be an important part of a smile makeover. We always check the suitability of your teeth, as it may not be recommended for some patients with high sensitivity. It’s important to know that we may not be able to treat all of your teeth: whitening can’t alter the colour of fillings, crowns, veneers, for example. Your dentist can explain and suggest any options open to you.

We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.

Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.

No, Bupa Dental Care practices are open to everyone. If you do have Bupa dental insurance, at selected practices we can guide you through your claim.

First, please check that our practice offers the services you’re looking for, then simply use the referral form on our contact page. Do feel free to give us a call and tell us what you’re looking for.
