Rajiv Anand

Rajiv has had extensive training in dental surgery and maxillofacial procedures. He is also the deputy lead for the skin cancer specialist group of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Training and qualifications

Rajiv qualified in both dentistry and medicine at the Royal London Hospital. After graduating, he went onto the prestigious South Coast programme for general surgical training and specialist oral and maxillofacial training. He was awarded a national intercollegiate head and neck specialist fellowship which he undertook in Birmingham, a world-renowned head and neck unit.

Rajiv is currently lead for the head and neck cancer multidisciplinary team at Portsmouth Hospital and deputy lead for the skin cancer specialist group of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a question writer for the Exit Fellowship in oral and maxillofacial surgery, as well as previously sitting on the National Council of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons - a position elected by his peers nationally.

Rajiv has been involved in over 50 peer reviewed publications and was also recently awarded the BAOMS surgery prize, presented to an oral and maxillofacial consultant who has made an outstanding contribution to the field in their first ten years.

Rajiv is an editorial board member of the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has previously been an advanced trauma and life support instructor and has just been accepted to the internationally renowned AO UK and Stryker Europe as a faculty member. He was also a faculty member of the European Head and Neck Course.

Rajiv is experienced in salivary gland surgery including facial trauma and facial pain.
