Our team at Shaftesbury
Working together as a team is important to our practice, and we have many long-standing staff members who bring a wealth of experience to patients. Trudie, our practice manager, has worked at the practice for 18 years, Satvinder has been with us as a hygienist for over 20 years and Heidi, our lead nurse has been with us for over 30 years.
Our dentists Louis, Tavi and Bethan are caring and knowledgeable, have a wealth of experience in general dentistry and update their skills regularly.
Satvinder, our hygienist, is well known by our patients for having the best sense of humour and for being very gentle – many patients who see him for the first time are amazed at just how gentle he is.
Our reception team – Sophia and Maria - are the first people that our patients talk to and are dedicated to making sure our patients receive a quality service. They are both fully trained dental nurses and highly skilled at answering your dental concerns or talking through your treatments.
Our lead nurse is Heidi, and Eleanor, Lucy and Anna have started their journey to becoming excellent dental nurses under her guidance. All are great assets to the team.

Many people who are stressed or anxious grind and/or clench their teeth at night, which can result in symptoms such as headaches, jaw pain and neck ache. Our dentist has had a lot of success treating patients using a small splint that sits between your front teeth, which minimises the possibility of you clenching your teeth and means it is almost impossible for you to grind your teeth
Our dentists are experienced in treating nervous patients. If you tell our reception team that you’re particularly nervous, we can make sure your visit is as easy-going and stress-free as possible – from the moment you step through the door to the time you leave

No, orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common. We can talk through your options with you.
We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.
Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.
Fillings repair small holes in your tooth enamel. If they aren’t filled, the decay will deepen. You’ll start to feel pain, and you could end up needing root canal treatment, which is much more significant and costs more. So although you might not feel pain right now, it’s best to repair these holes as soon as possible.
