3D dental scanners

What is a 3D dental scanner?

Dental scanners are small, handheld devices used to capture images of the inside of your mouth. Over 6,000 images are taken per second, which instantly produce a 3D simulation of your teeth and gums.

They’re used to assist various dental treatments, including orthodontics and dental implant placement. Some of the benefits include:

  • Your dentist can track your treatment progress and make modifications if needed
  • The 3D model replaces the need to take impressions of your mouth, making your treatment experience more comfortable
  • You can preview your potential treatment results before confirming your treatment plan
  • Which treatments can be supported by 3D scanners?

3D digital scanners are most commonly used alongside teeth straightening treatments, dental implant placement, and the provision of crowns and bridges.
