Colchester Dental Specialist Centre is recommended by dentists for treating complex and difficult cases. We have multiple specialists working at our site, making us unique in offering specialist care for patients with multidisciplinary needs.

Our experienced team accepts referrals and self-referrals for endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, paediatric dentistry and orthodontic treatments. We offer a range of treatment with the support of IV and inhalation sedation, and we can support patients with dental anxiety.

My teeth have been the bane of my life and they've reached a point quite clearly where something needed to be done. When the point came one morning just said we've got to do something. So we literally looked on Google. This sounded to be the right place, specialist care, the full treatment, the full works. And we literally referred ourselves. I made a booking, self referred and Gurwinder looked at my mouth and went yes, you need some serious work. And he proposed a plan which ran to many sheets of paper with pictures and I went by God I do need help. I have a sort of 10 out of 10 fear of dentists, terrified of dentists. And I had to explain this first off, and they said Gurwinder said probably best that you have sedation. It's called conscious sedation and I've had it three times and it's the business for people like me. I knew nothing about my teeth coming out. I felt fine at the end of the day, but I couldn't remember anything. There was no pain. It was amazing. Richard is an amazing patient. He came to me essentially with sort of very badly breaking down, breaking down teeth, broken teeth. He'd already had some implants, a couple of implants in there for sure. After we test him, we gave him all the different options, but unfortunately all the teeth were not in a good condition so we had to go down for large implant work. So in the lower jaw we provided 6 implants for him and gave him a fixed restoration. In the upper jaw we managed to utilise 2 of the existing implants and replace four more implants to also give him a full arch and a pair and a fixed bridge as well. And the thing we did with Richard as well, which is interesting was we gave him fixed teeth on the day of taking teeth out. And it's become quite a common modality and we try and do that whenever we can. So it allows the patient to have fixed teeth that, you know, at the same time as having their teeth removed, meaning they don't need to wear dentures and so forth. And it works really well. Gurwinder has been magnificent. He is such a personable man and such a professional and a perfectionist. He kept me right. He could see when I was getting concerned or worried and he'd bring me back on track. No, I owe him a lot. He did a magnificent job really. I mean he was very patient with me and I never once worried about it. Has reignited my confidence and dentists and dentistry. Now if they said could I come in and sit in the chair, I don't think I would pause. It wouldn't give me a racing heart, I'd just come in and do it.

Hello, I'm Christian and I'm a patient here at Colchester. I need to have my wisdom teeth removed. Basically, I was on the NHS and there was a very long waiting list. I was looking for somewhere that I'd be able to get it done more quickly without having to wait, but also somewhere where I knew I'd be in good hands. I'm quite a nervous patient and always have been. This was a big sort of deal for me, this procedure. So I just really wanted to be somewhere where I knew that I’d have one experience and it'd be a good experience, and I'd be with someone who really knew what they were doing. One of the particular things that I did with Doctor Akeel was to have sedation. It was amazing. It was pretty much just one moment I was lying in the chair looking at a painting and the next moment they told me it was done. And I just felt really great about it all. It is truly amazing. What Doctor Akeel is able to offer is—I think it's called PRF treatment. Basically, it's a treatment that helps you to heal much faster if you've had surgical extractions of wisdom teeth, for example. For me, that has really helped because the recovery process has actually—you know, it's been two weeks now since I had the procedure done and the recovery has been a breeze really. It's been relatively pain-free and I'm healing really well. I think that really lends itself both to his skill, but also to the additional treatments he can provide. I think when you've found someone you're comfortable with, you just know—you just sort of feel it. For me, especially for this particular procedure, I instantly felt reassured by Doctor Akeel because he was so instantly professional about the whole thing. I instantly got this feeling that this is someone who really knows what they're doing. I would not hesitate for anyone who is similar to me—who is nervous or anxious. I would not hesitate for one moment to recommend Doctor Akeel to them because you know you'll be in really good hands and it will be honestly over before you know it. And it'll be painless, so don't worry.

How to find us

Colchester Dental Specialist Centre is in Colchester Business Park, near the Colchester Football Stadium junction on the A12. The business park is on The Crescent, known locally as Severalls industrial estate. Turn off The Crescent where you see a low-level grey sign marked ‘800-896’. Continue toward the end of that road. We are the second turning on the right. There is a navy-blue sign that states our name along with the other occupants of ‘841-847 The Crescent’, and we are the first building to the left in the corner. Free parking for patients is in bays 841 and 842 in front of the building. If you have issues finding us, please call reception 01206 756813 and we can direct you. To support our commitment to sustainability, please consider walking or using public transport for your appointment if possible.
