Wessington dentist, Chris, crowned Bupa Dental Care’s ‘Every Day Hero’
We’re delighted to announce that our dentist, Chris Hanford, was awarded the title of Bupa Dental Care’s ‘Every Day Hero’, 2019. It’s a well-deserved achievement recognising Chris’s dedication and passion for dentistry and his patients.

The Everyday Hero programme is a new programme that recognises inspirational colleagues across the Bupa Dental Care network of over 480 practices in the UK.
Each month, there’s a different category for people to nominate colleagues for and the monthly winners are then shortlisted for the overall Everyday Hero award. Julie Stephens, People Director at Bupa Dental Care, surprised Chris in practice to present him with his award.
Speaking about the award, our practice manager, Toni Moon, said, “Chris goes above and beyond for his patients and is an invaluable member of the team. His passion and expertise are unquestionable, so we’re thrilled he’s been recognised for his efforts.”

Why Chris is our every day hero
Chris has been recognised for providing his patients with the best care he can and investing in his professional development to ensure he can offer a variety of treatments to a high standard.
Chris has invested more than £70,000 in course fees alone to develop himself for the benefit of his patients. In less than a decade, Chris has studied in London, Manchester, Sheffield, Munich and Seattle, to be skilled in a range of cosmetic and restorative procedures.
This shows how far Chris is willing to go to ensure his patients’ smiles aren’t limited by their treatment options.
On winning the award, Chris said, “I am genuinely surprised and honoured to have been awarded the Everyday Hero Award. Caring for my patients is the most important part of my job and I’m proud to be recognised for my efforts in such a fundamental part of dentistry.
“The dental industry is always moving forward, and I feel it’s our duty to train and learn how to deliver new and improved techniques and treatments to patients, to help them live longer, healthier and happier lives.”
