Open Up: Let’s talk about mental health at work

71% of workers still think mental health is a taboo subject in the workplace1, but Bupa’s #OpenUp suggests it should be a normal topic at work. Visit our Open Up page to see Bupa’s business leaders share their own mental health experiences, inspiring you to get the conversation started with your team too.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

We all need a little extra support from time to time. An Employee Assistance Programme gives your team access to a confidential helpline, day and night, so they can talk to a trained counsellor about anything that’s bothering them. Sharing a problem in confidence can be an excellent way for them to gain a fresh perspective and improve their mental wellbeing.

When you subscribe to an EAP, it doesn’t cost your employees anything to call for expert support, 24/7.

Mental health first aid in the workplace

Bupa UK, along with businesses like Royal Mail, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and WHSmith, is calling on the government to amend the health & safety regulations. We want workplaces to have to provide mental health first aid too.

Helping our communities to live longer, healthier, happier lives

We believe in making a positive contribution to wider society, so we share ideas and best practice through our partnerships. We've partnered with organisations such as Business in the Community (BITC), set up by Prince Charles, and the City Mental Health Alliance (CMHA).

††As of December 2020, this analysis is based on an internally conducted review of the consumer, SME and Corporate health insurance markets using publicly available information from the major insurers in the UK consumer health insurance market. Combined, Bupa, AXA PPP, Aviva, Cigna and Vitality hold approximately 90-93% of the Gross Written Premium income of UK Private Medical Insurance providers.
