Local Resident brings wedding surprise to her grandmother at Bupa care home

Pat Moores, local care home resident at Elmstead Bupa Care Home was recently surprised by her granddaughter and husband to a wedding re-enactment after she was unable to make it to the happy couple’s big day in Sicily, Italy.

Becky Partridge, Pat’s granddaughter, and the team at Elmstead helped surprise Pat by reconstructing her wedding in the grounds of Elmstead. All in attendance were dressed for the occasion, with Becky wearing her wedding dress, and her groom, Ryan, wearing his suit. Meanwhile, Pat wore her favourite blue dress and a feathery fascinator, and the day was topped off with lots of cake to celebrate the momentous occasion.

When asked about the celebration, Pat commented: “I had absolutely no idea that Becky and Ryan were going to re-enact their wedding for me. I was in complete shock when Becky turned up in her wedding dress and Ryan in his suit. She looked absolutely beautiful; I am so proud of her. It was an afternoon I will never forget, and I’m overjoyed to have been able to experience it after sadly missing the big day itself in Italy.”

Becky Partridge, aged 31, commented: “Surprising my grandma in my wedding dress really topped off all of the celebrations for my nuptials. I was gutted she could not come to Sicily, but so pleased we could re-enact our special day with her at Elmstead. The care home team were so kind in organising the afternoon and keeping it a surprise for my grandma. It’s something we’ll never forget.

Emma Staples, Home Manager at Elmstead Bupa Care Home, commented: “It was a very special afternoon at Elmstead, Pat had no idea what was going to happen and absolutely over the moon to have seen Becky and have a part in her special day. Celebrating different milestones in our residents’ lives is so important to us at Elmstead, we were chuffed to be able to do this for Pat.”
