Matthew is a 1st year radiology registrar on the St Bartholomew’s and Royal London training programme.

He completed his medical degree at the University of Edinburgh in 2015, achieving numerous prizes. During his studies, he undertook a Bachelor of Science degree at Imperial College London in Immunity and Infection (immunology) achieving first class honours.

Matthew has been involved in medical leadership at both a local and national level. He was elected national chair of the BMA Scottish Medical Student Committee where he was involved in discussions at the highest level of Scottish Government.

His postgraduate training has been undertaken initially in Bristol and Taunton – where he chaired the regional Junior Doctor’s committee, with responsibility for ensuring correct implementation of the controversial 2016 junior doctor’s contract across the South West of England. He has also spent time outside the UK, working in Wellington Regional Hospital, New Zealand and as a scholarship student undertaking neuro-oncology research in Montreal, Canada. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, red wine and theatre.
