Croft House Bupa Care Home in Essex has appointed a new Home Manager who vows to use her experience to offer the best possible care to residents.

Lydia Halliday has worked in the care sector, in various capacities, for the last 10 years. She started out working in care homes during school holidays at the age of 17 and returned to the field following completion of her degree. Her passion for caring for people has shone throughout.

Lydia was in the middle of her training, in a previous role, when the Covid-19 pandemic began and she stepped in as a Support Manager. She supported different care homes across the region over the last 12 months to assist teams where required. This hard work and determined nature was spotted by Bupa and in January 2021, she was offered the position of Home Manager at Croft House.

Commenting on her new position, Lydia said: “From my very first day as a receptionist at Bupa, I was so impressed with the high standards of care and the lovely atmosphere. I really enjoyed my job and developed a real enthusiasm for caring for people, by regularly going above and beyond for our residents.

“Bupa is a fantastic place to build my career, so when I was offered the opportunity to become a Home Manger at Croft House.”

The newly appointed manager prides herself in being a people person and relishes caring for residents and spending time getting to know everyone individually, so that she can ensure they’re offered the correct level of care required.

She added: “At Bupa we pride ourselves in offering person-centred care, and the care our residents receive is tailored specifically to their needs.

“I think this approach is fantastic and I genuinely enjoy getting to know residents and their families in the process. I see it as a privilege to be involved in our residents’ journeys and feel honoured when families make the decision to trust us to care for their loved one – it shows that they feel safe and reassured by our care.”

When asked if she had any plans for change at Croft House, Lydia said: “The goal at every Bupa care home is to provide the very best care for each resident. We want to make sure that they are happy, healthy, and having fun every day.

“I’m also very excited to involve relatives, friends and the local community in life at the home again – once it’s safe to do so. I’ve personally been sending weekly update emails to all relatives and appreciate how difficult this time has been for everyone. Therefore, it’d be wonderful to welcome friends and family back for visits, host events and activities and see everyone enjoying spending time together again at Croft House.” For further information, please visit https://www.bupa.co.uk/care-services/care-homes/croft-house-essex
