High-quality care set in an 1870 hotel
Southlands is built within a historic former hotel that offers landscape gardens and open, light filled rooms. Residents are encouraged to bring personal belongings and furniture.
Great places to socialise, enjoy an activity or have quiet time
Residents can relax in bright lounges and socialise over a drink. We encourage them to choose how to spend their time and if they want some seclusion there are spaces both inside and out.
Experience quality coffee with old and new friends
With the coffee bar and lounges, residents will be spoilt for choice when choosing where to relax.

Rekindle old dancing passions
We have our very own ballroom that residents can use to practice their old dance moves.

Relax in the onsite Salon
There is a wide selection of beautician options available at our salon for residents to enjoy.

There’s no typical day at Southlands, but we arrange plenty to do, both here at the home as well as out and about.
Spend time with younger generations
We get regular toddler visits and play days where they come and spend time with our residents.

Keep up old hobbies or start new ones
We will always support residents in pursuing their hobbies both old and new.

See stunning landscapes in the local area
There is a fantastic range of local landscapes that our residents can go out and see.

“We saw people were regularly asked their opinion of the food and that the manager had taken steps to make changes where possible to meet people's requests. For example, we saw people had asked for a coffee shop to be available in the lounge and this had been implemented. The atmosphere was quiet and calm.”
"I was pleased and touched by the way Southlands staff helped celebrate my mother's 100th birthday. They were lovely, making a fuss of her and organising cards from local residents, many with lovely messages for Mum. Arranging a visit from the mayor, making it more of an occasion. The staff are amazing at dealing with many residents, but with care and empathy; it is quite humbling to witness."

"Mum moved here from a different nursing home in April this year. She is partially sighted, has restricted movement and is very sound of mind. Southlands has a lovely feel about it from the minute you walk through the door. All the staff are warm, friendly and very welcoming. The food is excellent, with several choices being given every day. A sherry or liqueur is offered as is a glass of wine at lunch if desired. Nothing is any trouble. Activities are varied and are on through the week. Mum is treated with respect and dignity at all times. I would highly recommend Southlands. It’s a great relief for us all, knowing she is settled, safe and happier than she has been for a while."

"My mum continues to be cared for by the staff at Southlands remarkably and without issues. They are so very kind to her and know her little ways and what she likes and does not. Mum is deteriorating quite quickly now, but the staff are fully aware of this and provide amazing support to her when she is upset and experiencing a hallucination - which is part and parcel of her illness - they take the time to sit with her and talk to her when she is in that moment. I take treats in for her such as vanilla slices, and they know which bits she likes to eat and which bits she won't. The staff are always polite and courteous and always ready to talk about Mum's care.
I know she is really looked after, and I, in turn, feel better knowing she is safe and secure."
