“People and their relatives spoke positively about the service and said staff were kind, caring and supportive. Throughout our inspection we observed staff interacted well with people and had formed good relationships with them and their relatives. One person said, "The staff are all wonderful. They are kind and very caring." A relative told us, "The staff are terrific and I feel very confident that [relative] is well cared for when I'm not around."”
"My husband, who is 87 and has Alzheimer's, was moved to St George's six weeks ago after failing to settle down at another care home. The compassion and attention he has received at St George's have enabled him to adapt to a comfortable life with plenty of company and activity going on around him. I have been consistently impressed with the kindness and 'can do' attitude of all the staff and their determination to give him the personalised care appropriate to his mental and physical needs. Visitors are always made to feel welcome. The home feels like a well-run, friendly and happy organisation and I feel confident that my husband's life is as good as can be expected for someone suffering from this very difficult disease. "

"My mother has advanced dementia and has been a resident at St George's for six years. My brother and I and our families have always been so impressed by the care and thought that is taken with residents at St George's. From the clinical deputy manager who's amazing nursing care has kept mum alive through many medical emergencies, to the activities coordinator and her brilliant team who organise an enormous amount of activities, to the chefs who surprise Mum with amazing home made birthday cakes, to the lovely reception staff who always have a kind word, to the cleaning and laundry team who take so much effort, to all the many caring staff (too many to mention). We would recommend it to anyone looking for care for a loved one coming to end of life or with special caring needs. Thank you St George's for all you do. "

""Mum was a resident for nearly thirteen years. It is very well run, by approachable management. Very welcoming, we could visit whenever we wished. Over the years, as St George's became Mum's home, it became extensions of ours too. It has strong teams of really caring, highly professional carers and nurses. Support staff from all areas contribute greatly to the smooth and nurturing running of St George's. It has a very special activities department. It arranges many and varied outings. The department listens to the needs and wishes of the residents and responds accordingly. A variety of entertainers, singers and musicians visit. Special days throughout the year are always celebrated. Organised activities and clubs are arranged. For those remaining in their rooms, activities visit them. Everyone is included. St George's kindly, dedicated care and expertise enabled Mum to live the best life her illness would allow and we thank St George's from the bottom of our hearts. "
