Bright and cheerful: a lovely place to invite friends and family
The Arkley has a huge atrium with a glass roof, letting light pour into the social areas below. Among all the indoor palms, it feels like the perfect place to sit and enjoy tea and cake with a visitor.

“We work incredibly hard at The Arkley to make the residents feel safe and cared for. Everyone takes pride in the work they do and care very much for all our residents. We are like a big family here!”
Sarah Mair - Home manager

Great places to socialise, enjoy an activity or have quiet time
Residents can get their hair done in our salon, chat with friends in the tea-room and even get creative in our activity room before sitting down to a tasty lunch in one of our dining rooms.
Lovely garden screened by mature trees
Our garden has a patio with seating. Residents can enjoy the sunshine or sit in the shade under a parasol while enjoying the flowers and birds.

A therapeutic sensory room
The sensory room is designed to help residents remember old memories from images, sounds and smells.

Pretty bedrooms and WC facilities
All our bedrooms are spacious, nicely furnished, comfortable, and residents can have meals there if wanted. It’s the ideal place for a bit of ‘me’ time with a book or knitting.

There’s no typical day at The Arkley, but we arrange plenty to do, both here at the home as well as out and about.
Plenty to keep mind and body active
We take residents out on trips to the zoo and riverboat trips so they can see nature from a different angle.

Getting involved with daily tasks
Our residents love taking care of our home, whether that’s looking after the plants from their wheelchair or helping us with a bit of paperwork in the office. These are great for using skills and enjoying a sense of achievement.

Visiting animals always raise a smile
We get visits from all sorts of animals – from fluffy bunnies and waggy dogs to reptiles and creepy crawlies. They’ll even visit the residents who are spending time in the comfort of their own rooms.

“We heard staff saying words of encouragement… staff attended to people's needs in a gentle and compassionate manner. [They were] interactive, polite and communicated with people in a respectful way. We saw staff being gentle… [they] were patient, spoke quietly and did not rush people.”
“The staff are excellent. The activities are great, the home is exceptionally clean and well maintained, the food is good, the Christmas party was fabulous and most importantly the residents are very well looked after by the carers and nurses.”
Daughter of resident, February 2019, carehome.co.uk
“I have only good things to say about the Arkley – they provide outstanding compassion and care. They went above and beyond to arrange for my grandmother to attend a relative’s birthday party, which none of us thought possible!”
Grandson of resident, June 2019, carehome.co.uk
“I cannot express my gratitude for the care and compassion they showed Dad. When it was felt he might benefit from a hospice, he flatly refused as he saw The Arkley as his home and that’s where he wanted to be.”
Son of resident, May 2019, carehome.co.uk
