A small home with a very domestic feel
Although we’re only three miles from Newbury, we’re surrounded by the green open spaces of farmland and golf courses. Staff create a lovely welcoming atmosphere for residents as well as their friends and families.
“The Donnington is set in a rural location on the outskirts of Newbury, we have a beautiful garden with lots of wildlife. I have a fantastic team who are very person centred. Our focus is meeting the needs of our residents in a very dignified respectful manner. Family life is really important to us and we are to all residents an extension of their family.”
Roseann Sweeney - Home manager, Donnington Care Home
Great places to socialise, enjoy an activity or have quiet time
The Donnington is in an attractive period building with timbered gables. Although it’s been carefully modernised to offer all the comforts you’d expect, we still have high ceilings and big windows letting in lots of natural light.
Have a day to yourself getting pampered
Our hairdressing salon is the perfect place for our residents to relax and enjoy having their hair cut and styled.
Large enclosed gardens
We have well-tended grounds. There are raised beds so wheelchair users can get close to the flowers and even do a spot of gardening.
Prettily decorated bedrooms
All of our bedrooms are attractively furnished with co-ordinating soft furnishings. Residents are welcome to bring pictures and knick-knacks from home.
There’s no typical day at The Donnington, we arrange plenty to do, both here at the home as well as out and about.
Catering to all interests
We support residents in painting, arts & crafts reading club, and movie days – we’ll also do our best to support residents’ existing hobbies and interests.
Themed days for special occasions
Anytime there is a special occasion the home is happy to create a special themed day to celebrate it.
A bit of culture
With film afternoons, musical entertainment, cheese and wine events and trips to the theatre and museums. Residents have a range of activities to choose from.
“People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests. A relative stated, “My mother moved to the Donnington just before the pandemic started, and for the last year she has had the most amazing care and support possible and is having an amazing time in the home.””
