“"One never knows what the quality a care home provides when someone close has to become a resident on the advice of a hospice. There is little time to assess but the initial assessment gave me optimism. My wife was admitted following a diagnosis of an incurable brain tumour after a brief period at home. The tumour meant that increasingly she behaved as a dementia patient with erratic behaviours to go with her illness. She was unable to see and her hearing became increasingly impaired. As a consequence, she was deprived of significant external stimulus. As a consequence, she was frequently very distressed and her default was to wish to return home. This resulted in her spending lengthy periods walking the corridors and towards the end gave rise to real concerns about her safety. At the beginning of her time in the home she retained her social abilities and her humour but as the illness progressed she became increasingly difficult to manage. Throughout she was treated by all who had contact with her with real care, concern, patience, affection, and dignity. At the end, she had need for further medication and the whole team from the manager to nursing staff were determined to ensure that her final days were both pain-free and calm. The manager appointed in mid-August was a breath of fresh air. She displayed not only professionalism and a drive to improve the home but displayed a determination to ensure that my wife got the best possible care but was also sympathetic to and supportive of both myself and our daughters." ”

“My mother stayed at The Goldbridge for 10 months. Her care needs increased significantly over her time in the home, and the staff went over and above our expectations with regards to her needs. All the staff, from the manager, care staff, nursing staff, catering and housekeeping staff were kind, caring and empathetic to my mother's needs, and also to the needs of us as her family. We were kept informed of changes throughout her care, and are immensely grateful for their care of her especially in her final days.

“Excellent and caring staff, did a good job for my sister-in-law whilst she was in The Goldbridge Care Home. Very friendly and supportive to my sister-in-law and my family too. Nurses and carers, plus catering/housekeepers, really made an effort. Some really dedicated members of staff here! ”
