Kerrie, Leeds Customer Care Team, who are we?
“I first qualified as a nurse in 1979 and spent many years in the NHS working in a variety of fields including acute medicine and palliative care. I now have the privilege to be manager at the Lindsay care home. Our residents do not live in my place of work, I am privileged to work in their home.”
Claudia Carvell - General manager at The Lindsay
Great places to socialise, enjoy an activity or have quiet time
The Lindsay is a great place for residents to make friends with one another and to welcome visitors. There’s a café and a library, and our lounge areas are great places to relax.
Fresh healthy food
Good food, in pleasant surroundings, is a real priority. Our café offers fresh-baked cakes and biscuits plus speciality coffees. Appetising meals are served in our spacious restaurant, café or garden, or in the resident’s room. Our chef talks to each resident when they move in about their likes, dislikes and any special dietary needs.
Private dining areas for families
Families can spend quiet time together for special events and celebrations like birthday parties.
Our own library and cinema
Residents are encouraged to keep up their enjoyment of books, and a great way to have peaceful moments. Movie showings bring people together, and family and friends are always invited.
There’s no typical day at The Lindsay, but we arrange plenty to do, both here at the home as well as out and about.
We believe it’s #NeverTooLate
We help to make residents’ long-held wishes come true, or to tick something off their ‘bucket list’. We’ve helped them hold an art show, milk a cow, have a pamper day and go to the football!
Getting out and about
We like to arrange trips to wherever residents would like to go, and so we share a minibus with another Bupa home nearby for trips to the seaside, boat trips, and shopping.
Lots of special interests
With our Knit and Natter group, gardening, bowling, darts, pottery, art, and cookery, there is lots for the residents to do.
“We received only positive comments about The Lindsay throughout our inspection… There was a full programme of activities to keep people meaningfully occupied and stimulated... Staff were polite, respectful and mindful of people's dignity… Staff knew people well and had a caring and respectful manner… People were smartly dressed, clean and comfortable.”
“I came in for one week post-op because I live alone. The Lindsay has helped my recovery and given me a lot of moral and professional support. Their cheeriness was a tonic. Thank you.”

“They can manage Mum's symptoms, keeping her comfortable and relaxed. I’ve been able to be with her 24/7 and have seen exemplary examples of care throughout.”
