Dr David Baines (he/him)

Dr David Baines is the Lead Physician at the Bupa Health Centre Bristol, Boots Clinic Bath, and the Dyson Bupa Clinic in Malmesbury. He is a former interim Associate Clinic Director for Bupa’s Remote GP Services and has worked with the Health Content Team since 2023. 

David completed his medical training at the University of Nottingham. He also has an MA in Biological Sciences from Oxford University, with interests in genetics and physiology, and a Post-graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of Bath.

David qualified as a doctor in 2009. His experience includes two years in Western Australia, working in specialties such as emergency medicine and oncology, before qualifying as a GP in 2016. He held NHS GP roles in Somerset and Bristol for six years and has a passion for preventative medicine and health screening, which has been fulfilled at Bupa since 2017. David’s special interests include lifestyle medicine, musculoskeletal conditions and men’s health.

David is a qualified Medical Appraiser and was the Social Media Lead for the RCGP Severn Deanery Faculty in 2016-17. He is a keen educator and has delivered formal teaching sessions to medical students in Nottingham and Bristol.   

In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with the family, dog walking and swimming. He previously competed in the FINA Swimming World Cup, but his current aquatic endeavours focus on sing and splash with his young children.
