Dr Joey Lai-Cheong is a UK-trained consultant dermatologist who has been practicing since 2004 exclusively in dermatology. He is on the specialist register of the General Medical Council and consults on all aspects of dermatology and sees adults, teenagers and children.
Dr Lai-Cheong works at the BMI Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor, the Bridge Clinic in Maidenhead and the Spire Thames Valley Hospital near Wexham. He consults on all aspects of general and paediatric dermatology and has expertise in skin cancer diagnosis and management, mole checks and mole removal, medical dermatology including eczema, psoriasis and acne as well as dermatological surgery.
In 2010, he was awarded a PhD in Skin Science from the University of London and subsequently became the first National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Lecturer in Cutaneous Medicine at St John’s Institute of Dermatology. Joey also trained in Children and Adolescent Dermatology at the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, USA under Professor Amy Paller, a world authority in Paediatric Dermatology.
Joey has contributed to the field of dermatology by publishing over 50 peer-reviewed medical articles and over 100 conference abstracts in local, national and international meetings. Notable medical journals in which he has published include the New England Journal of Medicine (the highest ranked medical journal in the world), Nature Medicine, Journal of Investigative Dermatology (the highest ranked dermatology journal) and The American Journal of Pathology. He has also contributed to numerous book chapters including the Skin Anatomy chapter in the 2015 and 2020 edition of the world famous Gray’s Anatomy textbook.
