Get help with moles and skin lesions
Remote skin assessment service
Noticing changes to a mole or skin lesion can be concerning. And we know early detection can save lives.
If you're over 18, our remote skin assessment service offers a skin cancer and mole check from the comfort of your own home, usually without the need for a GP referral.
Our trained advisers can discuss your symptoms over the phone and see if the service is right for you.
This service is subject to policy limitations and counts towards your benefit limits.
How does our remote skin assessment work?
1. Contact us
If you find a mole or skin lesion you're concerned about, call our Direct Access‡ team on 0345 609 0111.
Our trained advisers will assess your symptoms right away. The service isn't recommended for all moles and lesions, so the adviser will let you know if it's suitable for you.
Phone lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 8am-6pm. We may record or monitor phone calls.
2. Register and use your kit
If our remote skin assessment is suitable, we'll send you a registration link, and you'll need to answer a few questions about your medical history. This helps the dermatologists with their assessments.
You'll receive your assessment kit within one working day of registering, guaranteed if you register before 2pm.
In the kit, you'll find a smart phone and a dermatoscopic lens. You can use these to take high resolution photos of up to three moles or skin lesions for the dermatologist to review.
Upload your images to the secure app on the phone, and a dermatologist will review them alongside your medical history.
3. Receive your results
Your results will be available within two working days. If your results are nothing to worry about, (which is the case with over 50% of users) you'll receive the dermatologists report by email.
If further investigation is needed, you'll receive a call to discuss the results and next steps.
We'll be made aware that you need an onward referral and we will call you to help with this.
