Private physio: what to expect
If you have suffered from an injury or illness that’s affected your joints or muscles, you might benefit from physiotherapy. Physiotherapy is a type of physical treatment which aims to help improve strength, movement and flexibility and reduce pain in your muscles and joints.
Our physiotherapists understand how frustrating it can be if you are living with pain or if you’re struggling with mobility. That’s why we will work with you to find a physiotherapy plan to help get you back to your best as quickly as possible.

Reasons for physiotherapy
Physiotherapy tends to be combination of ‘hands-on’ care, exercises and education about self-management.
Common reasons for needing physiotherapy include:
- Back pain
- Knee pain
- Neck pain
- Chronic conditions, such as osteoarthritis

What to expect
When you visit one of our health centres for a physiotherapy appointment, you will be taken into a room with a physiotherapist to discuss your problem.
Your physiotherapist will then thoroughly examine the affected area(s) and may ask you to gently move around in a way that demonstrates your problem. You will need to wear suitable clothing so that the Physiotherapist can see the affected areas.
Once they have a full understanding of your issue, your physiotherapist will talk you through your personalised treatment programme, based on your individual goals that you would like to achieve. The initial appointment will focus on the assessment of your issue and a discussion about your treatment programme, and the Physiotherapist may give you some exercises to start with. Subsequent follow up sessions will then focus more on treatment, which may include manual therapy, acupuncture, exercise therapy and self-management techniques.
