The A-Z of everyday things we miss, but never think about
Petra Simic, Clinical Director at Bupa Health Clinics reflects on the role general good health plays in enabling us to enjoy the everyday moments in life, as we wrap up our A-Z of #EverydayMoments campaign.

Z is for Zen
Roller skating enthusiast, Gemma, felt her anxiety was beginning to take over and affect her performance. It wasn’t until she found her inner Zen that things changed. Meditating techniques meant that Gemma could regain control and continue to achieve her sporting goals.

Y is for Yoga
Sitting down at work for long periods of time slowly began causing Jeeta severe back pain. With our physiotherapy programme treating two burst discs in her spine, she was relieved to get back to her Yoga classes!

X is for X training
Tim began developing eczema on his hands and arms which impacted his comfort while boxing as well as affecting his confidence. Creams and lotions didn’t seem to work so he sought the help of a Bupa dermatologist who got him on the right regime to clearing up the eczema!

W is for walking the dog
When Vicki woke up one day and couldn't move her leg, she quickly realised how much she appreciated the little things in life.

V is for Velodrome
In 2014 double world champion cyclist Becky James developed a serious knee injury which meant she was out of action for nearly 18 months. She missed getting on her bike and doing a lap of the Velodrome, so when she finally returned to training she was more than grateful for her good health.

U is for understanding how lucky I am
As Grace sat with her nana who lives with Alzheimer’s she imagined a similar future for herself. It made her reflect on the great life she had and inspired her to raise money for charity by running marathons.

T is for Ticker
When Grant noticed his father struggling to keep up with the group on a family walk, he had a wakeup call. With a history of heart problems in the family, Grant realised he needed to change his lifestyle or else he was headed down that same route!

S is for Smile
Adam had dental bridges incorrectly fitted which left him feeling self-conscious about his smile. With the help of our dental experts, Adam’s teeth were put right along with his confidence.

R is for running after my kids
In 2016 as John ran around with his kids, he noticed he became out of breath quite quickly. It was that moment that he decided he needed to turn his life around. He booked in for a health assessment where they discussed a plan to improve his fitness levels and lose weight. Now John is 10 kilos lighter, running 5k races and living a healthier lifestyle.
