Jacqui, Leeds Customer Care Team, who are we?
How we’re keeping our residents safe from coronavirus (COVID-19)
As ever, the care and safety of our residents and our people continues to be our highest priority during these unprecedented times. That’s why we’re doing everything we can to look after our residents and their loved ones.
We’re following strict infection control measures in all our homes
Be assured we’re taking extra measures to prevent the spread of infection in each of our homes, including frequent deep cleaning and rolling out testing for our staff and residents.
We have all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All our homes have been supplied with the necessary supplies of PPE, and our in-house procurement team is ready to source further supplies if needed.
We’re keeping residents and their loved ones connected
We’re doing everything we can to keep our residents connected to their loved ones and the wider community, from video calls to letters and our new Bupa Buddy service.
For the latest updates, support and guidance on coronavirus (COVID-19) please visit our information hub.
Great places to socialise, enjoy an activity or have quiet time
Residents can stroll in the grounds, or even potter about in the garden, and then enjoy a manicure and a glass of sherry before having lunch in our oak-panelled dining room.
High ceilings, gorgeous fireplaces and a sweeping staircase
There are many period features that provide lots of light and make for elegant surroundings.

Woodlands, pretty gardens, orchards and our own veg plot
We maintain a healthy balance of freedom and safety. Our gardens are a great place to take visitors for some fresh air and sunshine.

Fine dining indoors plus barbecues and picnics outdoors
With high quality food, family and friends are welcome to eat here. The fruit & veg we grow here makes it onto our dining tables.

There’s no typical day at Shockerwick House, but we arrange plenty to do, both here at the home as well as out and about.
All kinds of special interest clubs
Residents can enjoy reading, gardening, films, cookery, and yoga.

Promoting active minds
There are poetry and prose sessions, crosswords, theatre productions, concerts, museum trips and visiting speakers to help keep our residents active.

Great days out
With trips to the zoo, the arboretum, cider farms, museum, and the Pump Rooms in Bath. Residents will be spoilt for choice.

“From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I was cared for physically, mentally and nutritionally.”

“Mum stayed at Shockerwick House for a few months to convalesce after leaving the hospital. Mum always spoke very highly of all the stay, her room, and the food. I found the staff very approachable and happy to spend time talking to me about Mum’s progress, which was very reassuring. Many thanks to each and every one of the staff!”

“I've visited a lot of care homes in the area on behalf of my father and my friend, and Shockerwick House is by far the best. Everyone I have interacted with, from the manager, deputy manager and to the personal carer is so accommodating, so patient and so lovely. They really do care!”
