Get help for other symptoms
Support for other health concerns
If you’re worried about a health symptom not covered in our categories, follow these three steps.
1. Speak to a GP
You can either:
See your usual GP in person
You can talk to your own NHS GP, and they’ll decide what to do next.
Talk to a GP online
Depending on your cover, you can use our Bupa Blua Health digital GP service and talk to a doctor by video or phone call within 24 hours, day or night.†
A GP may be able to take care of your condition themselves, without the need for onward referral.
2. Get a referral
If you have a condition that requires a GP referral, we recommend you ask for an open referral letter.
This will detail the care your GP would like you to have, but won’t be addressed to a specific consultant, hospital or healthcare professional. We aim to offer a choice of two or three specialists.
Open referral is mandatory on some personal, corporate and company health insurance schemes. Please call us on 0345 609 0111 if you’re unsure.
Lines are open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm. We may record or monitor our calls.
3. Contact us
Call us on 0345 609 0111 or use the Bupa Virtual Assistant
We’ll discuss your options and explain which specialists and healthcare professionals your Bupa membership covers.
You’ll need:
- your Bupa membership number
- details of your symptoms, when they first began and when you first spoke to your GP
- details of the treatment and the type of specialist your GP has recommended
We’ll explain your next steps and send you any pre-treatment forms you may need to complete.
Live chat and phone lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 6pm. We may record or monitor our calls.
