A resident at Northlands House Bupa Care Home had his dream come true last week when croupiers from Genting Casino’s brought the ‘fun casino’ to him as part of his wish to visit one.

Dean Matthews, 67, was nominated for the experience by Activities Coordinator, Tina Seaborn, who arranged the visit as part of the home’s #NeverTooLate campaign.

The campaign is being run across Bupa care homes to help residents live life to the full, while ticking off their bucket list. Elsewhere, in-home staff have worked to fulfil residents’ ambitions from meeting a musical icon through to an RAF flight experience.

Speaking of the event, Dean said: “I was over the moon when the home told me they would be hosting a casino event especially for me – I never thought I’d get the chance to experience one. We had a blast playing roulette and cards. We definitely want to do this again soon.”

General Manager, Helen Cousins, explained: “We try to arrange as many personalised activities like this to encourage residents to continue ticking things off that they want to achieve while they are at the home.

“Everyone’s got ambitions that they’d like to achieve and being in a care home shouldn’t get in the way of that. The residents absolutely loved it, so another day like this is on the cards!”

Bupa Northlands House welcomes anyone in need of nursing or residential care. Residents are offered a full programme of regular and seasonal activities, as well as 24-hour access to highly trained medical and care staff.
