MAYOR FACETIMES LOCAL CARE HOME RESIDENT CELEBRATING 90TH BIRTHDAY
A resident at a Bollington-based care home celebrated her 90th birthday on 19th August with a special message from the Mayor.
The Mayor of Bollington, John Cadman Stewart, surprised Mount Hall Bupa Care Home resident, Marion McKernan, with a Facetime call to wish her a very happy birthday and congratulate her on reaching the milestone. Marion also received a card filled with warm wishes and a box of chocolates from the Mayor’s Senior Citizen’s Welfare Committee.
Celebrating her 90th birthday with friends and staff at the Mount Hall care home, Marion was treated to flowers and a homemade chocolate cake, whilst enjoying an afternoon of fun, laughter and singing.
As Mount Hall is currently closed to external visitors, Marion’s daughter, Bernadette Cox, sent her mother’s gifts to the home and they opened them together on FaceTime while she also received virtual birthday wishes from her son, Robert McKernan, who lives in Tukey.
Commenting on her birthday celebrations, Marion said: “I had a wonderful day and would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes. Celebrating virtually with my children and with my friends and the staff here at Mount Hall was lovely. Having a video call with the Mayor, was also such a treat and made the day extra special, I’d like to thank him for my lovely card and chocolates.”
Activities Co-ordinator at Mount Hall Bupa Care Home, Janine Holmes, added: “We had a lovely day celebrating Marion’s 90th birthday. It was great to see our staff and residents come together for this momentous milestone. Marion is a remarkable lady and an inspiration to us all, so we’re thrilled to have been a part of her special day.”
