What happens in a wisdom tooth removal?: Dr Anne Heelan, Dentist
So you may opt for sedation to have a wisdom tooth removed, or you may have it under, purely, under local anaesthetic.
So first of all you will be made numb for the procedure, and then there is a sensation of pressing, but it doesn't hurt to have the wisdom tooth removed itself. Some wisdom teeth removal can take a little bit longer than others, and occasionally wisdom teeth are removed under general anaesthetic, although we shy away from that these days.
