Keeping an eye on your moles

Nearly everyone has moles and most are completely harmless, but sometimes changes in moles can be a sign of a type of skin cancer called melanoma.

That’s why it’s important to check your moles regularly. You should look for changes in colour, shape or size and be aware of any itching, pain or bleeding, all of which can be symptoms of melanoma. If you do notice any of these signs, make sure you visit your doctor as soon as possible. Melanoma can spread quickly, so the earlier it’s caught the more likely it can be treated.
