What is a Targeted Cancer Screening?
Our Targeted Cancer Screening is a set of checks designed to look for some of the most common cancers. The exact tests you have will be tailored to you, based on your age and what’s medically relevant.
Depending on what’s right for you, this could include checks for prostate, testicular, breast and cervical cancer. Screening can help spot potential signs of cancer at an early stage when treatment is often most effective.
While these tests don’t diagnose cancer, they can highlight changes that may need further investigation. If something is found, we’ll explain the results clearly and help arrange any next steps.

Is a cancer screening for me?
Our cancer screenings are for those without symptoms who are worried they may be at risk. If you’ve noticed anything unusual, see your GP or book a private GP appointment instead.
You should book a cancer screening if you:
- Are over the age of 18
- Have no current symptoms, but would like peace of mind
- Have a family history of cancer
- Haven't had recent screening
- You want regular check-ups to stay healthy
Book a GP appointment instead if you have:
- A new lump in any area of your body
- Unusual bleeding (pee, vomit, poo or vaginal)
- Unexplained weight loss
- Persistent fatigue or night sweats
- Change in poo (bowel) habits
What to expect at a Targeted Cancer Screening
Cancer screening tests
Our Targeted Cancer Screening includes a range of in-depth tests. Not every test is suitable for everyone and which ones you can have will depend on your age, sex at birth and medical relevance.
Breast cancer screening examination
Age 18+
Depending on your questionnaire results and consultation, the GP may examine your breasts. They’ll also make sure you’re confident doing checks at home so changes can be found and looked into earlier.
Cervical cancer screening
Age 25+
If you’re over 25, the GP will take a sample from the entrance of your womb, if it’s appropriate for you. This is to check for human papilloma virus (HPV). If you have HPV, we’ll check the sample for abnormal cells. Finding these early means there’s more chance of treatment before they become cancerous. If you’re under 25, you can discuss your concerns with the GP who will advise on next steps.
HPV test
Age 25+
Certain types of HPV can increase the risk of cervical cancer. So it’s important we know about it. In most people HPV clears up on its own, but some people may need treatment. It's advised you have yearly follow-ups to track it until it’s resolved.
Prostate Specific Antigen blood test (PSA)
Age 50+ (45+ if clinically indicated)
If you're over 50, a PSA test can help detect problems with your prostate. You may also get this at a younger age, depending on factors like symptoms, your family history and your ethnicity. Your doctor will discuss the pros and cons of the test with you.
Prostate cancer check
Age 50+ (45+ if clinically indicated)
The PSA blood test is the main way to screen for prostate cancer. We sometimes offer a prostate examination as well. Your GP will explain how this exam is used and what its limitations are.
After looking through your medical history, the GP may check your prostate through the wall of your rectum (back passage). While it can be uncomfortable, it shouldn’t be painful.
Testicular cancer check
Age 18+
Your GP may feel for lumps and swelling on your testicles, as well as their size and texture. They’ll also make sure you’re confident doing self-checks at home.
Available to add to your appointment
Additional cancer screening tests are available to add to your appointment for an extra cost. If you would like to book one, please call a member of our team on 0333 355 8064^.
Bowel cancer screening stool test
£50 | Age 45+
The qFIT test is a simple stool test that checks for tiny traces of blood in your poo, often too small to see. This can be an early sign of bowel cancer or other conditions.
You can take the test at home using a small kit we provide. It only takes a few minutes and is painless. You then return the sample to us for analysis.
Finding bowel cancer early usually means treatment is simpler and more effective.
Mammogram
£152 | Age 40+
A mammogram is an X-ray of your breasts. It can show early signs of cancer, often before you notice any symptoms. Finding cancer early usually means treatment is simpler and more effective.
The scan itself takes around 15 minutes. Each breast is placed between two plates for a few seconds while the X-ray is taken. You may feel some pressure but it isn’t painful.
Colon CT scan
£1,069 | Age 45+
This is a scan of your large bowel using CT imaging. Unlike a traditional colonoscopy, no camera is used, which can make it more comfortable.
You’ll need to take a bowel preparation (a laxative) a couple of days before the scan.
The scan takes about 15 minutes. You’ll lie on a table while the CT scanner takes pictures of your bowel. Some air or carbon dioxide may be gently added to give a clear view.
After your appointment
After the appointment you will have a phone call with a GP from the original screening centre to discuss your results and next steps if any. Depending on your symptoms, examination or test results, the GP can organise a private referral. Or they can write to your NHS GP (with your consent) advising an NHS referral.
