Family health insurance
Families save 10% on their Bupa health insurance
What is family health insurance?
Family health insurance brings the same private healthcare cover to each member of your family. You pay a monthly subscription that can cover the cost of treatment for acute conditions that develop after your family health insurance policy has begun.
Families save 10% on Bupa health insurance.
We value families at Bupa, which is why you’ll pay 10% less on your health insurance when compared to buying individual policies for each member of your family. Terms and conditions apply, see below for details‡‡‡.

Choose the right cover for you
We have two different types of health insurance cover to choose from. You choose between Comprehensive health insurance, or Treatment and Care health insurance.
You can use our comparison table to see what is and isn’t covered, and find a health insurance policy that’s suited to you.

Think about what you’d like out of your family health insurance policy. We understand every family has different needs, so whether it’s fast access to treatment for your children, or 24/7 health advice, our family health insurance has it covered.
Instead of having to take out more expensive individual policies for you and your dependents (your husband, wife, or children), our family health insurance allows you to cover multiple family members under one discounted policy. You can choose to pay for your family’s health cover either in monthly or annual instalments.
Health insurance costs vary from person to person. We calculate your policy’s cost based on several factors, including:
- the price of healthcare
- your age
- where you live
- your level of cover, e.g. comprehensive health insurance costs more than treatment and care insurance
- the amount of excess you choose
- your medical history

You can only add dependents to family health insurance policies. This means that any members on your family health insurance policy cannot be anyone other than your spouse and/or your children. The members covered on your family insurance policy don’t have to all live at the same address – for example, your child could be a student at university.
If you're not married to your partner but would like to have a joint health insurance policy together, take a look at our couples' health insurance.

For rolling moratorium underwritten members we will ask for evidence each time you claim for a condition not claimed for before. Always call us first to check your eligibility.
† With Bupa Cancer Cover there are no time limits and all your eligible treatment costs are paid in full for as long as you have Bupa health insurance. You must use a hospital or health centre from the Bupa network and a consultant that we recognise and charges within Bupa rates (a fee-assured consultant).
†† Access to eligible breakthrough cancer drugs and treatments often before they are available on the NHS or approved by NICE as long as they are evidence-based. Applies to eligible cancer drugs and treatments covered by your policy. Bupa will not fund for genetic testing when used solely for the purpose of screening.
