Take care of your everyday health with family health insurance
With our cover, families get digital GP appointments, a 24-hour nurse helpline, and accommodation for a parent if your child needs to stay in hospital.
We’ve created two health cover options – Comprehensive or Treatment and Care. So you can find a package to suit your family.
Once you’ve chosen a policy, just add your partner and children to get our family discounts.
Our discounts on family health cover
When you add family members to our Comprehensive or Treatment and Care cover, you’ll get both our family offers.
Families save 10%
- Families pay 10% less compared to the price of separate policies for each family member.
- Cover must include at least one adult and one or more children.
- Children do not have to live at the same address as the main policyholder.
We may remove or change these offers when you renew your cover.
Cover all your kids for the price of one
- Add more than one child under 20 years old to your policy and you'll only pay for the oldest child, no matter how many more children you add. Cover must include at least two children aged 19 or under.
- You’ll still receive our 10% family discount if you have free child cover.
- Children do not have to live at the same address as the main policyholder.
- Children aged 20 or over cannot receive free cover or count as an oldest child for this offer.
We may remove or change these offers when you renew your cover. See full terms and conditions. (PDF, 0.04MB)

You can choose from two private health insurance cover options, giving you flexibility to choose the right level of cover for your family’s needs.
Comprehensive health insurance is available online and covers appointments, scans or tests needed to give a diagnosis. It will also cover you for treatment if the treatment is included in your cover.
Or you can call our team on 0800 600 500^ and choose Treatment and Care health insurance. This covers you for treatment after you're diagnosed by the NHS or self-pay for a private diagnosis.
Check our comparison table to see what is and isn’t covered on each policy.
^We may record or monitor phone calls. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm.
More about Bupa health insurance for families
How does family health insurance work?
Instead of buying individual policies for each person, you can cover yourself, your children and your partner with one policy. We don’t offer specific health cover for families. But you can choose one of our health cover options and then add your children to this. When you add children, or a partner and children to your health cover, you can access our family discounts.
Can you add non-family members to your health insurance?
You can only add your partner and your children to your policy. You don't have to be married to your partner and you don’t all have to live at the same address.
How much does family health insurance cost?
The cost of cover depends on your age, where you live, your lifestyle and the level of cover you choose. To see how much your cover could cost, get a quote.

Feel better, with family health insurance
Family health insurance can offer parents peace of mind in two ways. First, you’ll know that if you or your family become unwell, you’ll have fast access to private healthcare.
And second, your family health cover can help with the everyday things too. Flexible GP appointments and fast access to physio and mental health support are all part of the everyday family healthcare we offer.
If you’re looking for support with family health, just choose one of our private health cover options – Comprehensive or Treatment and Care. Then add family members to the same policy to get our family discounts.
